Poor quality compass from Silva brand
This is a review for the Silva Expedition S, it is not a review for the retailer I used (UKGE, these guys are awesome, do buy from them!)
Compass has a few flaws that hits value for money for the price you pay for the Silva brand.
(1) map scales on the baseplate are in reverse to UK OS 6 digit map format, so you can’t easily use it to get 6 digit positions without thinking about what you’re doing.
(2) compression ring under the compass fascia is poorly bonded and isn’t seated in a retaining channel. As soon as you turn the declination screw it all pops up and comes off. Pickle to put it all back together too. There may be a weakness in their design here as this is my second compass, the first had a crack in the fascia right out the box.
(3) it doesn’t come with a declination screw tool. So happy hunting finding something useful, I haven’t yet. Don’t use a ferrous metal object, it interferes with the adjustment.
(4) Silva rave about their soft silicon grips on the underside of the baseplate to grip firmly on the map. They only used 3 not 4 so the baseplate is unstable when sat on the map.
This compass is advertised as having all the features you’d want for serious navigation but be warned, they don’t live up to expectations of serious navigators with this model. Chucked together cheaply, not brilliant for UK OS use and overpriced compared to competitors who can match this market leader’s falling standards.

Great mouse - don’t you wish it was cheaper?
I;m using this for iPAD OS (13.4). It works great in principle but it only recognises 1 button (I can’t configure it to two button mode yet). No issues with this product except generally, Apple products are pricey.
