Gift for dad
I bought this for my dad and he loved it. He's into calendars and really liked the pictures in this one.

Recommended if you want to understand a slave's plight
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. From the very first line I was intrigued. I learned a lot regarding the daily treatment of slaves. This part of Slavery is not something that is taught in schools in my country. The cruelty described is gruesome and not for the faint of heart. I wish more people knew about the complete and utter helplessness that befell people of color during Slavery. I also enjoyed the appendix at the end. Somehow, it comforted me to know that Frederick Douglass recognized the difference between the Christianity of Christ and the Christianity of the American Slaveholders.
The one thing I wish that was different in this book is his addressing of his own escape to freedom. I couldn't wait to get to that part after all the whippings and when I got there, he just addressed it in one sentence. He does explain that he doesn't want to implicate anyone and get them in trouble so he won't detail the successful escape. I understand the reason but still for the reader, it is anti-climactic.
Overall very informative and interesting.

Perfect shade
This shade of NYC liquid makeup is becoming increasing hard to find. I was so happy to find it on Ebay. It lasts me several months and once layered with pressed powder, you can't even tell I am wearing anything. The only thing is I have oily skin so after a few hours my face is shiny and I have
to blot it out with napkin but that's not enough to make me stop using it. The shade is a perfect match for my skin.
