Loooong kitchen spoon, great spoon

Sometimes you need a really long spoon (like with a wok with hot oil, or a BBQ), and this is fine. Being wood you know what it will take (never sure with plastic what the deform / melting point is), and there's no metal to worry about the join in the dishwasher. Plain, simple, cheap - does the job well.

Kitchen heatproof gloves

We've long used welders gauntlets in the kitchen as heatproof gloves, especially the ones with long sleeves. Godsend when pulling stuff out of a hot oven, or worrying about formal shirt sleeves over a hot pan. After a while they start to get oil ingrained in the leather and so lose some heat resistance, but they are relatively cheap to replace. Never done any welding, only kitchen work, and these are great for the kitchen.

Works well

I tried two other (generic) bluetooth HRM cheststraps with my iPhone 5s. Both were erratic and did not give a constant, reliable signal, especially if I used the bluetooth for listening to headphones at the same time. This Wahoo was recommended on a website (I forget which) so I tried it - it is considerably more expensive than the generic ones, but is reliable (so far - 3 weeks of almost daily use with my bike), and I can listen simultaneously on my bluetooth headset. A happy user!
