ASUS X99-PRO/USB3.1 - Faster than greased lightning
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this mobo with the intent of double-using it as a powerful gaming beast, and as a server. The gaming beast part works as designed and expected. The server part doesn't and that's not ASUS's fault. That's my own fault for not researching. But it still works as a virtual machine home under Oracle Virtual Box hypervisor (any laptop can work with Virtual Box), so I can still install multiple instances of virtual machines, including multiple Linux distributions.
The memory I bought is RIPJAWS 2 pairs of 2x16GB 2133 speed. ASUS QVL did not list these particular model of RIPJAWS, and ASUS said they can't test everything, but I was pretty sure they'd work, and they did. I also bought a very nice Intel i7 5820K CPU that has 6 cores and virtualization capability as well as turbo boost. This mobo had no problems with the RIPJAWS (64GB total) or with the CPU, or the hard drive, or the LG DVD writer, and boththe on-board wireless and on-board Ethernet worked fine in my network under Win 10 (NEITHER NIC worked when I installed Win server 2012.. and ASUS politely informed me that this mobo does NOT support Win server 2012, even though it did install fine, it had trouble finding the on-board NICs. I was disappointed about not being able to run Win server 2010 and use Hyper-V as my VM hypervisor, but again that's my over zealousness - not the fault of ASUS. All in all, I am thrilled with the new mobo, and I haven't even used some of the hottest features like the USB 3.1 ports and the included M.2 PCI Express add-on card. I suppose I'll shop around for a good SSD that can take advantage of this newer M.2 interface. Thanks ASUS. This is the 3rd MOBO I've bought from you and I'll shop for you again on my next big build.

Stable, powerful, well-made, and pretty accurate.
6 of 6 found this helpful Very stable, heavy, solid, powerful (it shoots .22 cal @ around 440fps), and very covenient not having to pump up 5-6 times. Just load, aim, safety off, and fire. This gun is LOUD. It's almost as loud as a 22 short. So I really cant shoot it around my house at rats without neighbors getting antsy. I DO like the easy side lever bolt action. It's fairly easy to load pellets. I just HATE having to handle lead pellets that much. You need to wear thin, protective gloves. I am not so keen on the CO2 loading mechanism. It doesn't have that typical CO2 turn, turn, click to puncture the canister seal. So since I didn't hear the CO2 cartridge get punctured, I just kept screwing it on tighter, even though the manual said FINGER TIGHT. Yeah and then I used a knife blade to snug it tighter than I can with my finger tips. The manual says FINGER TIGHT. But that's not quite as easy as it sounds. Actually the best you can do is FINGER-TIP-TIGHT. There's a big difference. You cannot get a real solid grip with the side of your index finger and thumb around the knurled end-cap-screw because it is directly under the barrel. I would have MUCH preferred an easier-to-turn knob than what it came with. Or maybe some sort of small, retractable / fold-down lever or thumb screw that you CAN get FINGERS and THUMB TIGHT. But other than that, I REALLY LIKE this pistol. Now if they re-design it, and come up with a better C02 insertion/tightening system, then I would REALLY REALLY LIKE it. But if they made this with a pellet magazine, or a 10-shot revolver, holding, say 8-10 rounds, then I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE this pistol.
