Panasonic SC-PM250BEBS DAB CD Micro Hi-Fi System Built in Bluetooth USB
10 May, 2016
Good little box
The system is very compact which is nice. The sound quality is excellent. The power is sufficient for our medium sized living room. I haven't tried the usb stick input yet. Mostly use DAB and Bluetooth which work great. Bear in mind there is no other inputs or outputs than you can see on the front, no minijack input or headphone output or anything else. The only way to feed external signal to the system is via Bluetooth.

Some minosr issues but the best your money can get you in e-ink category
You can pick one on Amazon for £79.99. They are sold as refurbished but they are new items sold cheap because they introduced the keyboard-less model. The screen is amazing, it is like paper. Letters are crisp and legible no matter what angle you looking at. That also means it doesn't have it's own light unfortunately. In low light or darkness you need an external light source. I am not using it to read Kindle books at all. Only pdfs and converted articles from the web. The user interface is not the best for such usage unfortunately - zooming in and out and scrolling a page that doesn't fit on a screen is not easy. It's ok but obviously wasn't the priority for the engineers. Also on large pdfs low performance is an issue.

Nice entry level Android handset with some nice extra features.
Before you commit to anything bear in mind you can get this phone brand new and unlocked for £214 on Amazon. The phone comes with Motorola's own Android UI which drains battery and CPU and also contains a lot of unnecessary pre-installed apps. Bad. I rooted it and installed Cyanogen. After that performance is much better and I can get 1.5 days out of the battery easily and 2 days on low internet usage. The UI looks much better too. It's not a performance phone. Even with Cyanogen it seems less snappy than my girlfriend's HTC Desire which is an older phone. I tried some 3D game and it was a joke really. On the other hand 2GB internal memory gives a lot of space for applications which is great - remember that not all apps will install on the SD card. The screen is a bit smaller than on a Desire or an iPhone, which I don't have a problem with. If you want a big screen get a tablet. A phone should comfortably fit in a pocket and this one does. I am not sure about the 'toughness'. Apparently BBC Watchdog did a feature on it because of the complaints they had about the screen cracking. Mine didn't yet but that doesn't mean much. I've only had it for a couple of months. I used it a number of times in the rain and it doesn't seem to cause harm, but the touchscreen becomes quite difficult when it's wet. Altogether a nice and cheap entry level Android handset with some extra features. If you are looking for top class performance or display size it's not for you.
