Great value for Money
1 of 1 found this helpful Great value for money. The instructions are nearly as good as useless but fortunately the on screen menus are pretty straightforward with a little trial and error.
I initially thought it was way too bright and tried playing with all the settings on the computer and the monitor. In the end though, tried resetting everything to default on the computer (was previously set up to the old monitor). Then went for auto settings on the Advent and 'bingo', all colours well defined and good contrast. The advent sorted it all out.
The screen is crystal clear once set up, really shows up the benefit of 1080p and once I get used to it I can probably view 2 full documents side by side which I will find very useful for work.
Great for watching TV with BBC IPlayer.
What struck me before buying it was the fact it only uses about 30 watts in use and less than 1 watt on standby whereas all the others I looked at seemed to be around 40 watts and between 1 & 2 watts standby. I use my computer quite a lot so thought help do my bit for the environment.
There may be better monitors out there but I doubt you could tell the difference without having them side by side. I have rated it excellent because for the cost it is, maybe a £200 one would be a little better but I would hope it was.
One thing to look out for is that mine only had a VGA connection, no HDMI or DVI. It appears some come with one or more of these and some don't. Was no issue to me as I am still using VGA anyway but if you want HDMI or DVI, better to check with the seller first to avoid disappointment.
Some reviews I read reported a less than stable stand but although not absolutely rock solid, seems perfectly adequate and should be fine. Maybe a dodgy desk might make this show up but with mine it is fine.
Don't know about reliability yet but don't anticipate any issues.

Well worth the upgrade from older low energy bulbs.
Superb value, items and service.
Bought as an upgrade for some tired older type low energy lights and what a difference, lower wattage and so much brighter.

Only a motor issue
Having decided to get one of these 'spares only' drones to see how it was, I was very pleased when it arrived. It had been used a bit with some slight marks on the body and the props but not much. Only thing I could see to be missing was the charger and the only fault was a dead motor so approx £2 for a pair of motors on ebay (only a few pence more than just one) from China and it flies!!
Likewise another £1 if you need the charger.
As for how well it flies, only done that indoors so far and it seems fine enough.
So much so, I bought another and it too was missing a charger and had a faulty motor, luckily enough, the opposite motor to the other one so didn't even need to buy another motor.
These are a great deal but someone I suppose might be unlucky but you can get most parts for these on ebay pretty cheap. If you think you don;t know enough about what you are doing,can't think of a better way to learn.
So to educational?? Much more than a working one. You or your child can learn how to take them apart, fix it and put them back together. They even give you a screwdriver ...... just thinking, that might have been missing too but as I have plenty I might not have noticed. There are plenty of video's on YouTube about stripping these down and fixing them.
Overall, a great deal, if you can't fix it, sell the bits. You could buy 2 of these for less than a new working one and you;d be hugely unlucky if exactly the same part failed on both. Note except motors but there are 2 of each of these on a drone.
