Value for money, stuffed with current technology, more than you could use.
We were looking for a TV/PC Monitor for a spare bedroom. As a purchaser of a 22 " Samsung SyncMaster T220HD before we thought another Samsung would be ideal. A Series 5 is on our shopping list for main room viewing at 47" so when a Series 5 22" came up at a remarkable price it was a done deal. Biggest problem was that it couldn't be used as a PC monitor because it didn't accept VGA just optical or HDMI. That meant it had to go to the caravan instead. The Smart Features appealed and Facebook was a target. Overall the app is poor to the point of pointless. Other apps are good and certainly useable. A wireless keyboard is probably essential as the pop up on screen keypad is annoying to use. The likes are immeasurable. It's small and compact and fits in anywhere. This may be due to the separate laptop style power supply. It works off a car battery a treat though. It is dwarfed by the SyncMaster of the same screen size and could fly away in the wind if you are not extra careful. We has a white version and it fits with decor seamlessly. The SyncMaster has a rosewood bessel which makes it stick out like a sore thumb. The ethernet isn't advertised but is the best option in a dense wall building. The WiFi picks up anything, even passing IPhones in the street? Channel wise its streets better than some of the older Freeview adapters I've got on CRT sets. I would also say better than a very expensive Panasonic Freeview HD set. The little Samsung picked up all the terrestrial weaker HD channels on its first outing. Something the Panny can't do. Overall a very serviceable TV with multifunctions galore, more than I'd ever use. Certainly it would draw me into a bigger version. I bought from Tesco Outlet with 12 months guarantee as supplier refurbished. The box was damaged and the instructions were for a plasma but the set itself was in manufacturers pristine packaging. A steal for the price and half the price of mainline suppliers.

Real value for money
After many years of being a desk top user and never seeing the ryme nor reason for a laptop at home; we relented. A visit to a retail shed just illustarted what was avialbale and the vast price range. After trying the wares out there were many shortcomings across the range. I've got big fingers with the matching hands. Mobile phone technology has come to bear on many of these machines. The shortlist was Dell. Desk top supplier and confidence was high. When the machine was unlocked from the bench and handled, well, thin paperback book came to mind. Geek directed me to IBM Lenovo. Lovely machines, ticked all the boxes but.... the price. I run VISTA at home and after the struggle didn't want to know most up to date or VISTA so searched for a second hand Thinkpad. Lots about running any OS and different sizes. We opted for a 14" with XP Professional. Plenty of ram at 1 Gb and 60 Gb hard drive, More than enough as a second machine. Resigned to buy a new battery regardless and for £ 30.00 got a 9 hour reproduction. We got exactly what was advertised. An ex business machine at 3 years old. A few scuffs but not far off a new one at a fraction of the price. No paperwork or discs. The battery was original and gave about 4 h, so pleasantly surprises. Long distance one kept as a reserve. I've never used a laptop that looks after itself so well. All the updates were downloaded and updated in the background. It self checks and E-Mails me with any problems; it immediately identified my none original battery when fitted fitted. When a new recovery disc software abvailable it tells me. Not headline selling items for a laptop but very sweet; I started pre Windows 3.11 and have had to wrangle some IT software/hardware bummers over the years. What is so good about a ThinkPad. Its built like a brick shithouse. It does flex or bend when you pick it up by a corner. It starts up seemlessly. It drives all my legacy hardware left behing by advancements? The keyboard is so comfortable; now preferred machine for word processing. I used Tosh Satellites as as a business machine and loved the button mouse. It fell out of favour and dissappeared. ThinkPad has a flat pad and a button. Love it, so natural for big fisted buffoons. Battery life is excellent and management of same is spot on. Many machines come with bloatware but ThinkVantage does what it says. It looks after the machine and lets you do what you bought it for. Not cutting edge but still streets ahead of new equipment at twice the price. I belive that its construction will also out live the other options available to me. Could I afford it as a new item. Never in a million years but recycled its ideal. This is the the pitch to somebdy who wants a lap top to work but without all the attendant baggage that comes with the popular models. I've seen so many school age kids have a laptop and then another 6 months later because it broke. More like mom & dad gave into pressure and bought something not fit fr purpose but cool ( thats the word used around here, there are a few descriptive words that may scribe its user ). I would recomment this approach, economical, more than robust, technology that works and very comfortable to use. The wireless, ethernet, re-writable DVD and USB 2 are all there. Real value for money. Sorry that is not a cool statement!

Original is best but better when at a discount
We have been HP users for some time. More expensive machines but cheaper ink. You pay one way or the other. Compatible and re-fills have been used. They have got better over the years. We had some disasters early on which switched us to OEM cartridges. There are always offers somewhere to find. I have a set price and in our humble opinion we can always meet it sooner or later. So hang out for the original equipment version. It's worth it for the quality of ink and the reliability.
