Mini Tap And Die Set 14 Taps & Screw Plate 0.7-2mm + Pin Vise Thread Making Set

Good box, poor tools

The taps have 4 flats ground by hand, I doubt they will cut steel or even clean the existing thread. I have checked a couple of bigger sizes against known good male and female threads and there is no match. The screw plate is heat treated (nice surprise) to 63 HRC, but thread sizes are questionable. The pin vise barely holds the taps. The box is decent, it has a nice magnetic closure, but this is not an excuse for a poor content.

Excellent drill chuck

I have checked this chuck for runout with several straight gauge pins from.070 to .500" diameter. I have used lathe spindle socket for that check and it had close to zero runout. At the jaws the biggest runout was .001" using a .100" diameter pin, 1" away from the jaws the biggest TIR was .002" using a .070" diameter pin. My .500" pin had 0 TIR at the jaws and 1" away from them. The instructions for this chuck say you have to torque the chuck with a spanner wrench and the wrench was included. My take on this - you have to use a wrench for heavy or deep drilling, it helps to put more grip on the tool. Light drilling does not need that. It is easy to open the chuck by hand even when wrench was used to close it.

Good quality and excellent value

This is a 4 solid conductor 24 AWG round telephone cable. It is used to wire houses for telephone service. I had to wire a new phone jack and used about 50 ft of this cable. All my house phone network is connected to Magic Jack through this cable and sound quality is very good.
