Gorgeous G! toon accurate Silverbolt - a bit fiddly, but overall a winner.
A great rendition of G1 Silverbolt and in the typically gorgeous quality that Fans Toys always seems to manage. He doesn't have as many ratcheted joints or feel quite so durable as some of their others (e.g. Roadking!), but then this isn't a toy designed for bashing around. He's well poseable, though again, being quite chunky, he doesn't have as much articulation as some other MP scale bots. His waist is particularly limited. But He's not a character I feel needs to look especially agile - I can still pose him dynamically enough. The transformation was fairly intensive and needed good concentration, but it wasn't really painful - I managed it from the manual alone at a casual and a careful pace in about 60 - 90 mins. I reckon with experience I can get that down to about 20-30 mins. Los of that time was simply deciphering the images in the instructions! I enjoyed the process anyway, I found it interesting and I always love marvelling at the ingenuity of the engineering. His alt mode has lots of panels around making wings and it's a testament to the successful design that he looks and feels solid and clean once complete in his alt mode. He's not cheap to get now, but if you really want to collect a set of 3P Aerialbots, then I definitely give a thumbs up to Maverick and the other Fans Toys versions.
TAKARA TOMY Transformers Masterpiece MP-28 HOT ROD RODIMUS G1 action figure

If you're gonna ride, ride in style!
I love this Hot Rod! Ok, so it's a Takara MP figure which means it's pretty lightweight and not what I'd really call "durable". It's not going to fall apart though. He has decent enough joints to be able to hold a pose and he looks great doing it. His alt mode is a perfect rendition of his '86 movie look as far as my nostalgic eye sees. The transformation process is pretty simple while clever enough to be fun and interesting. It would have been nice to have some things like rubber tyres, but again... things like this are par for the course with the Takara MP figures, so nothing I'd call a let down. One worth picking up I say.
