Appears to be few, if any, good alternatives
Most significant concern is that this sample does not self start. It requires that fan be pre-spun with a finger to start, even with new batteries. Noisy, fan/motor/shaft clearly contacting something internally as clackety-clack noise varies with fan speed. Faintly discernable even with fridge closed. Does not give confidence to durability.

My daughter has minor allergies. She said after we put it in her bedroom that she wakes up with hardly any stuffiness. Before she was very congested, and scratchy throat in the morning. So I assume it is taking dust, dander, etc. out of the air as described.
It is very quiet on the lower fan settings, and not bad on even the higher fan speeds, good air flow. I like the washable filters, both main & pre-filters. Per online review comments, I purchased 3rd party pre-filter material. It is easily scissor trimmable to needed size. Keeps cost reasonable.

Definitely a worthwhile streaming accessory
Big upgrade to ROKU Express stick. Significantly faster. Like the ethernet connection; faster & unloaded from the WiFi.
Only not a huge fan of the existing placement of the volume control on the side of the remote. When I first got the ROKU, it was hard not to inadvertently touch (& change) the volume control when starting to watch TV. Retrained how I pick up the remote to avoid this.
