Amazing amp for the price, Feature packed, Surprisingly Light Weight.
1 of 1 found this helpful Ill start out by introducing myself. My name is Mike. I've been playing bass for the last 10 years along with guitar. I've switched to mostly just bass for the last 3 years of that time. I play upright bass in a rockabilly/folkabilly band. I've had to rely mostly on my preamp and the house sound for most of that time. I've played on Orange, Ampeg, Fender, Behringer... Pretty much any amp I could get my hands on.
I upgraded to this hoping to get the bottom end that the upright demands. Im using a Vic Victor bridge/neck piezo pickup on my upright. This amp is AMAZING!! I have not bottomed out this amp. It is able to be driven very hard and keep up with any slapping and popping that I do along with the steady grooves. The Onboard compressor smooths out my playing much more than I ever knew I needed! Typically with acoustic instruments, especially big basses, you fight to keep feedback and harmonics in control. I can safely say that it is not nearly an issue with this amp. occasionally you can still run into a feedback situation but, you really have to be pushing it to have it happen. The 15" turbosound speaker is also very musical and accurately defines the big bottom end and the slaps that my bass produces. The amp has plenty of power to be heard over guitars and drums. It is also surprisingly light weight for how much is crammed into it. My old amp with a 12" speaker was close to 38 lbs and was no where near as loud as this one. This amp weighs around 46lbs. Im able to lug it just as easily and have no need for an extension cabinet which of course saves me a ton of room.
The EQ is very easy to dial. The additional push buttons for ultra low and ultra high are a very nice touch. The adjustable mid frequency is another huge bonus and helps control over resonant frequency's with my bass. It is super easy to dial in a tone for any style of playing. Im able to get my upright set up in no time for the country gigs. Also I can set it up in no time for my electric bass guitars if im feeling a little more metal!
The amp also has a separate foot switch (fsb102b) that you can purchase. I purchased mine with the amp and it is very sturdy and fully built of metal. I do not see myself breaking this anytime soon from stomping it. The controls you get are a "Mute" and a "FX Loop". The Mute is very handy for tuning and the switchable FX loop is something Ive never had but I will start using now. It will make my life so much easier. I run a digital delay/tape/looper pedal along with a chorus pedal for some atmospheric parts of songs.
Lastly price... Right now as of this review you can purchase this amp for 265.99. There is nothing close to that price of the same quality as this amp. Ive looked! Another thing to note is that these are refurbs "as of this posting". I personally have no issue purchasing something that has been refurbished, especially if it was done by the manufacturer. I can only speak on my luck but my amp came to me looking brand new! not a single scratch or dent.
Ill leave you with my thought process. I researched several amps before my purchase. I could not find to many reviews for this amp. But the videos on youtube and a handful of comments made me believe it would do what I needed it to do. It does SO MUCH more and has proven itself to be such a great value. If you need a big sounding, room filling,feature packed, LOUD amp that can keep up with you!, Give this a shot. You will not find a better quality amp within this price range.

Overbuilt, High Quality
I purchased this foot switch to go along with my Bugera BXD15. On that amp you are able to control the mute and the FX loop with the foot switch.
This is a great addition to an already amazing amp. Ive never had the luxury of having a separate footswitchable FX loop in an amp before. I run a digital delay/tape/looper pedal and a chorus pedal through the FX loop. It is so much easier to set the pedals up and kick them on when needed. The mute is also nice and makes silent tuning a breeze. Also the pedal has indicator lights that do turn on and off as you engage and disengage the pedal. no battery's needed!
The pedal is built with nice heavy steel and I have no fears that im going to stomp it into the ground.
For the price you can not go wrong.
