Interesting Movie Before The MCU Saturation Set In
They came up with a more interesting concept here making it about the father and the son. Just compare that with the formulaic Edward Norton effort that would follow.
Not sure if this backstory is 100% "comic book accurate" but it's certainly better than that other film and indeed the MCU Hulk characterisation which would follow.
I guess like the original stand alone '78 Superman, this seems more "realistic" for a comic book adaptation. No need for a team of heroes, taking on ever bigger threats. Just one guy and it's more about his psychological struggle to come to terms with what he is rather than taking on end of level bosses.
It's not perfect and I think it plays on for too long for what it is. It kind of fizzles out after the pursuit by Ross has ended and maybe a tighter script would have closed it out there. But definitely well worth a watch, especially for those with MCU / Disney+ fatigue setting in...
