No alternative so very high priced for what it is

Its small Its well made Its easy to use It tells you the hole dia and length of watch hands Its yellow It does not require batteries It voted to stay in the EU It cannot be used for anything other than intended use It is expensive but i quite like it

Nikon D40X

This is my first digital SLR but I have been a Film SLR and compact digital user for a long time. I like the camera, it is intuitive in use, a good range of features , some of which are useful. Some basics missing which is a shame, like D.O.F. pre-view anf the manual focus is not easy with such a narrow ring to use. It is very nice to have the fast response of an SLR compared to a digital compact. The kit lense is OK but the good lenses are expensive, and take the combined body and lens cost to quite a high amount It is clearly the amateur market aimed for in features present and not present, but compared to the pricing of a pro camera I would say this camera is a good choice and I do not regret buying it. I have already upgraded the standard lense to a VR model and it makes a real difference. I have added an angle finder, macro lens,ring flash and a 55 to 200 zoom so I am all set to transition from film at last.
