Not as described
I intended to use this cage for some orphaned squirrels that I "inherited"... Having not adopted any small animal in many years, all of my cages had "disappeared" during my lengthy illness.
I needed a cage that would house small mammals such as ferrets and rats and other animals that are small in body mass. This cage was advertised as such a cage and I ordered it. When it arrived the instructions and uses for the cage described it as a large bird cage, and it would have worked for a large bird cage (parrots?) but, even though it described it for ferrets, rats and rabbits. The spacing of the "bars" of the cage would not even presume to be useful for "rats" and "ferrets" simply because of the nature of the animals as well as the spacing of the bars.
Squirrels and ferrets have the unique ability to slink and slither in and out of most cages. If a squirrel or ferret can get it's nose through the openings, the animal can get through the bars and out of the cage. My husband finally had to build one using a description of one of my older cages using very small meshed wire.
Now I have a cage that I can not use and will have to take a loss if I sell it on some social media site (Facebook). Either that or purchase a large bird of some sort and I am not really a "bird" person. I am a long time licensed animal rehabilitator for the State of Texas and have for many years, had raccoons, deer, squirrels and other mammals. I have even raised baby Bengal Tigers that were brought to me from some sort of drug raid.
