Engaging romance with a twist
Great romantic film. It was entirely different to what I expected, and much better than expected. It is set in the past, over 100 years ago and focuses on a mysterious woman in a small town. She is a melancholy character who waits for her 'French Lieutenant' who had abandoned her.
Downton Abbey: Series 1-3/Christmas at Downton Abbey DVD (2012) Hugh Bonneville

Great drama with interesting storylines
I never watched Downton when it was aired on TV, so I missed all the fun, but I'm certainly making up for it now. It is a drama set in the period from about 1912 to 1919 (on this DVD, anyway) and centers around an aristocratic family in northern England. It depicts how events such as the Titanic sinking, World War One and family inheritance laws have affected them.
This DVD includes the first 3 series (I believe that there are 6 in all) and is therefore Excellent value for money!
The Tudors: The Complete Series [15] DVD Box Set

Great drama, and quite educational.
Great historical drama. It certainly made me wish to read the truth about the Tudors and Henry VIII and, from what I know, it is 80% true. The 30% fiction is done to explain complex themes during Henry's time. Its a bit saucy though, but the Tudor court was absolutely swimming in sauce!
