Not enough "music from", and too much "inspired by"
Being a Spidey fan, I had to get this album. Before purchasing it, I knew there wouldn't much of Danny Elfman's score. After going through the tracks a couple times I decided to write this review. There's nothing wrong with the songs themselves, I just feel there's no connection between these songs and Spider-Man. I would have preferred songs dedicated to Spider-Man (or even to Doc Ock) like that "Superman's Song" by Crash Test Dummies; or "Superman (It's Not Easy)" by Five For Fighting for Superman. For those who are into the music that's around the release of the movie, this is *perfect* for you. I said it earlier, there's nothing wrong with them at all. But for me, a collector who's more interested in the background instrumental music, there's not much here. If half of the tracks on this album were Elfman's score, I would have bumped the score up to 4/5. Avoid this album if you're looking for Elfman's score of the movie, pick up "Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Score" instead. Buy this album if you want good songs. I'll be keeping this album handy for road trips, parties, and whenever I feel the need to rock when I'm alone at home.

BtVS The Album = a great bond to the episodes
One of the powerful elements to an episode is music. And the Buffy series was in no short supply of that. Certain episodes just holds a special part in our hearts, and a song in the ep can remind us of emotions and memories years after. I'm sure most Buffy fans are between the ages of 25-33. For those who were like me, was also in high school somewhere during the first 3 seasons. So in a way, we grew up with them. For the hardcore fans you probably wouldn't need this list, but for those of you hesitating to buy this album...here's the ep where the track was featured: 1. the theme song (duh!) 4. Never Kill a Boy on the First Date 7. The Harsh Light of Day 8. The I in Team 9. Doppelgangland 10. Teacher’s Pet 11. Where the Wild Things Are 12. Beer Bad 13. When She Was Bad 14. The Prom 15. Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered; Dead Man's Party; Living Conditions 16. I Only Have Eyes For You 17. Surprise 18. Becoming Part 2 So if any of the above eps was a fav of yours, it's safe bet you'll enjoy this album. Though I'm unhappy that #2, #3, #5, and #6 were included when they were not in any ep, but it does fill up the lineup decently. You can consider them unused tracks. Either way, 14/18 on a CD is still pretty good. Unlike some of the other soundtracks out there, where more than half weren't in the show/movie. I'm still rating this perfect though it's not perfect, but pretty damn close. Buy it to enjoy it, or buy it to pick at it's flaws. But either way, Buffy fans should have this in their collection.

Go with your feelings and buy this CD
First off, I would like to say I got into this series because of chicks, violence and vampires. I never cared much for musicals. I will also admit to not watching it when it first aired, and avoided watching it. But of course, I really couldn't as the episode added more to further the plot/storyline. At first I thought it was ok, then it wasn't so bad, then it was pretty good, and now I totally enjoy the ep. Also watching the behind the scenes for the ep on DVD, I developed a greater understanding and appreciation of the efforts put into making the ep, by both Joss and the actors/actresses. I'll also add that I've listened to my CD 45 times. Why you should buy this album: -great way to enjoy emotions brought on during the episode -to enjoy the actors/actresses' surprising vocal performances -if you enjoyed the episode "Once More With Feeling" -it's different from the other soundtrack albums as they only consist of songs performed by other artists/bands -lyrics are included -"bonus" tracks include: --- Suite from "Restless" (Willow's nightmare scene) --- Suite From "Hush" (what I call the Gentlemen theme) --- Suite from "The Gift" (during the sacrifice scene) -if you want to hear Joss sing -you're a Buffy series fan (duh!) The only flaw I have of this album is that it does NOT have the song Anya sings in the episode "Selfless". If they ever do a re-release, it's got to include Anya's "Missus" song, and if they want to put it over the top, include the bit about getting mustard on the shirt. I'm actually giving it a 4.5/5, as it's not a complete album without Anya's very cheerful "Missus" song. Since the Ebay system doesn't do "halfs", I will not choose 4/5, that's too low a score. You can't go wrong with this CD, it's a special episode that rightly deserves an album dedicated to it.
