A Five Star Radio
I have been involved with radios for a long time. Basically I like everything about this radio. The tuning and SSB is very good. Five Stars!

Phil-Tone (Phil Engleman) Best of the Best
I am a long time professional and knew exactly what I was buying when I ordered this. I have several other Phil-Tone mouthpieces and this Berg Larsen refinished by Phil is absolutely top tier handwork at it's best.

The Perfect Storm
I have been using Penn reels for many years, the Spinfisher series is still my favorite. In this case it has the extra seals, no added switches or buttons just the spool, bail, drag and crank. An inexpensive roll of KastMaster 40lb braid will more than fill the line, no wind knots or hassles and it casts great on my 10 foot Lamiglass. In testing it recently on the local river, we had a very string windy front come through and it cast a one ounce Tsunami plug well direct into the wind. It handles fish in the current without a glitch, I prefer a medium to medium strong drag setting in the current and it does that very well. I have a 5500 also on 9' Tsunami rod for bucktails and big spinners.
Is there a down? A little. I found the reel to be slightly on the stiff side with all the new seals but still very good. Also the new black painted bails scratch up and chip some when layed down on rocks and concrete. Otherwise great equipment!
The Perfect Storm!
All the best, Dave.
