A HILL IN KOREA
THIS WAR MOVIE DATES BACK TO THE MIDDLE 1956. SURPRISINGLY IT STILL HOLDS UP PRETTY GOOD. GRITTY AND REALISTIC FOR IT'S DAY. THE CAST IS A WHO'S WHO OF BRITISH MOVIES. EARLY ROLES FOR ROBERT SHAW, STEPHEN BOYD AND A YOUNG ACTOR CALLED MICHAEL CAINE (WHO ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED ACTION IN KOREA IN REAL LIFE).
HARRY ANDREWS, STANLEY BAKER, MICHAEL MEDWIN. RONALD LEWIS AND GEORGE BAKER ARE ALSO FEATURED. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST NO BRITISH WAR MOVIE IS COMPLETE WITHOUT VICTOR MADDERN AND PERCY HERBURT IN THE SQUAD!! IT MOVES ALONG AT A GOOD PACE AND HAS GOOD CHARACTOR STUDIES WITHOUT BEING STERIO TYPICAL. THE ONLY FAULT I CAN SEE IS THAT IT FOLLOWS MUCH THE SAME GROUND AS SAMUEL FULLER'S "THE STEEL HELMET" 1951. THE STORY BEING VERY SIMILIER, ALBEIT WITH DIFFERENT ARMIES, SOMEWHAT OF A LOOSE REMAKE ACTUALLY. WELL WORTH A VIEW IF YOU ARE A WAR MOVIE FAN,OR AS A CURIO FOR FUTURE SUPERSTARS IN THE BEGINNING OF THERE CAREERS.

Bridget Jones edge of reason
Seems strangely dated now !! much the same as the previous film. That said passes the time pleasantly enougth, but a few hours later it is allready forgotten!
The actors revise there roles well and one assumes got paid a fortune for doing so! They all seem smug, no doubt the thought of there wage packets helps ! I would be smug too !

La Bete humaine
0 of 1 found this helpful What can i say ? French film noir at it's best. A must for lovers of Cinema and realism. Based on a novel by Zola and Directed by Jean Renoir it is a must for all students of Cinema, Simone Simon was never lovlier as the femme fatal. It was remade by Hollywood in the 50's as "Human Desire" with Glenn Ford and Gloria Graham, a good remake but not a patch on the original. A happy ending was tacked on as well...oh well whatever !! Highly recommended. If you love cinema than this is a film to see. In my book a good film is one that you are sorry to see end. Atmospheric, suspenseful and .........just good !
