Some Dr Who fun in (more or less) the classic style.
Not a bad story for the later phase of Tom Baker's stint in the role. It's in the traditional mould of Dr Who stories, which I consider to be a plus. I won't spoil the story for you, it's not as good as the classic stuff that you get with Jon Pertwee or as good Baker's earlier stories like Pyramids of Mars or Ark in Space. But at least it takes itself moderately seriously. Certainly it is worth watching but do yourself a favour and skip the first 80 seconds of Episode 1 (sorry "Part One") which is a boring, silent pan across a boring windswept Brighton beach. That whole Brighton scene is pointless except to explain how they manage to get rid of K9 for the duration of the story. If you are a fellow K9 hater then I'm pleased to tell you that he makes no appearance after the first few mins.
A word about the opening and closing credits: awful.
I think the credits were new for this series and to be honest they are less technically impressive than the original ones from 1963! As is the reworked theme tune.
But if you skip the credits, and skip Brighton (always a good idea) then you have about 80 mins of Doctor Who fun for very little financial expenditure (I got the DVD for less than £4).
It's worth getting and better than I expected.
Have fun!

1920s country house murder mystery
Well written, and conveys the atmosphere of the time and place. The story keeps you interested and the ending is clever.

A big strong barrel
1 of 1 found this helpful It's a big barrel, solidly made. The lid is two-part (like some glass storage jars), there is a disc and an outer ring that screws down onto it. There is no rubber seal but the disc fits quite tightly. I couldn't do the ring up tight enough to make it watertight, though it might be possible to do that. If do you need it watertight or airtight you will probably need to add a seal or a bead of sealant.
It was made in Greece, perhaps to send olives from Greece.
There was some water in it when it came. There was no bad smell.
I'm pleased with it and would recommend it.
