Beautiful insights into the realization of a first-rate film
This beautifully written and illustrated book shows how the magic of author Cressida Cowell's original story "How to Train Your Dragon" was adapted and brought to the big screen. The care invested in every aspect of the endeavor is clearly apparent. The artwork, which was translated into stunning animation, is superlative. The reader walks through steps and stages the artists conceived to create the final versions for the human and dragon characters, the clothing, the homes and work spaces, and the natural environment. The considerations for color values, lighting, and positioning are explored. The book itself is a top quality publication. I intend to do everything possible to protect and preserve the excellent condition in which I received my copy. Along with the "art of" books for the two subsequent "How to Train Your Dragon' films, this volume is a treasured addition to my library.

Beautiful first American hardbound edition that begins"How To Train Your Dragon" saga
This book completes my hardback set of American-published "How To Train Your Dragon" books. A comparable set was published in England. The book is exactly as advertised.I was delighted to find it available at such a reasonable price, in such excellent condition!
This book was a very special acquisition. I am a huge fan of the acclaimed English author Cressida Cowell, whose highly imaginative, strikingly illustrated adventure stories have become international classics. This book initiates the realization of her childhood dream of creating a world in which humans and dragons interact, where both Hiccup and Toothless mature toward their respective destinies. Movie fans should be eager to learn how the wonderful Dreamworks animated film trilogy HTTYD began, and to marvel at how well the coming-of-age lessons are adapted and condensed into a worthy though different screen equivalent.
