Scythe Slip Stream 2000 RPM 120mm 12V slim case fan SY1212SL12H with 30cm lead

Awesome thin fan: high RPM; lots of air; space-saving; not too noisy
I really love this fan. I initially bought three to put in my external JBOD case, and now have bought more with the intention to also replace some or all of the fans in my overclocked desktop PC. At 2000 RPM they put out a decent amount of air, more than the average PC fan. The awesome aspect is that they do this in an ultra-thin profile, taking up half the total volume of a normal 12cm fan. This creates more space in the case, making maintenance easier and giving a neater look. And I paid only £6 each, making them also some of the cheaper fans I've ever bought. Noise levels are OK - of course this fan is not intended as a 'quiet' fan, and being 2000 RPM it will be audible. But given this speed, the noise level are lower than I might have expected, and certainly reasonable. In fact it's quieter than a 1500RPM fan I was previously using in my PC. So it's not a 'quiet fan', but it is quiet for a high-RPM fan. If noise is a factor and RPM isn't so much, you could always use the fan with a voltage-limiting cable to reduce its power and resulting RPM. So it could be a space-saving solution even in a PC intended to be quiet. There's only thing I'd change about this fan: it only has a 3-pin cable, meaning your motherboard can monitor its speed but not alter it. A 4-pin version that a PC or server could slow down when appropriate would be preferable, and would enable lower-noise usage. Highly recommended. Photos show the first three I bought, in-situ in my JBOD (external HDD array.)
