Good value for money spent
1 of 1 found this helpful I have no previous sewing experience nor have I ever had any real interest in it. I do much boat related DIY so that is the real motivation. More specifically I have a boat that need repairs done to the upper flying bridge enclosure. This requires replacing clear vinyl and installing new zippers on the Sunbrella fabric. I haven't started that project yet; I have been focusing on small projects like covers to get some practice with the sewing concept. So far so good. Providing this works well I will then move on the cushions and upholstery. If all goes well this could be a huge bonanza of savings. First job or two will justify the cost of the equipment outlay, after that it is all value-add!
It will be nice to be in control of these maintenance costs; not saying canvas guys aren't highly skilled craftsmen but their time is expensive and their availability is low.
The machine so far seems to be a workhorse. Seems fully compatible with Sailrite Ultrafeed LS1 parts and components but at less than half the cost. One thing is the sewing machine is one tool of many parts and tools require to carry out this work. Still very worthwhile as far as I can tell.
