Japanese ham transceivers not for USA Market
2 of 3 found this helpful Problem is this FT-897D is strictly for Japanese Market. The 160, 80, 60, 40 meter bands only transmit outside USA licensed frequency allocations. Radio will not tune above 145.000 in 2 meter band, not above 430.00 in 70 cm band. Reconfiguring these frequency restrictions is a monumental task since FCC prohibits Yaesu Support to modify these Japanese variants to the USA Ham Market. Pity since this is an exception portable transceiver.
