The artist Sven Berlin was a controversial figure in the St Ives art scene in the 1940s and 1950s. This autobiography tells us about the experiences and influences that led him to become an artist and sculptor, drawing him to St Ives. He writes about the leading figures of the period, including Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Adrian Stokes, John Wells, Terry Frost, Patrick Heron, Peter Lanyon and Bernard Leach.
