Phone lasted less than 6 months

I bought this as a Christmas present for my elderly dad to replace his previous one with the understanding the battery was new! The phone was given to dad on Christmas Day and now in July it no longer works! Started running out of charge earlier and earlier until it no longer would charge and now it won’t switch on leaving an elderly man with no phone and being elderly he doesn’t want “one of those fancy phones “
