customisable settings, high quality, good battery life - the 'standard' for action cam
4k60 video looks great, hyperlapse, good screen to preview, incoporates the classic gopro mount working with all my hero2 accessories. Protune for custome settings esp useful for exposure compensation for car inteiors, so the outside isn't overblown.

compact and long cable
Great value, 1m cable allows for connecting to pc under table, fast I got ~100+MB/s using Sony SDHC U3 media.

alternative to dual battery in vehicle
Takes big battery (in term of physical size), I put at 130Ah capacity AGM deep-cycle in it. The mains charger is stand-alone - so is a 7-stage, 6amp charger you could use on other batteries you might have and has range of connector leads with it. Unfortunately the Thunder Weekender current draw display does not include what is being drawn by the inverter. The Anderson plug can accept input to charge from a solar panel + regulator. LED display is nice to read, internal straps hold the battery in place. I'd probably still put a hand underneath the box when moving it as a 30kg battery inside feels like the base might flex a bit - the case is sturdy but not inflexible. Thunder also sell a 20A DC-DC charger for this unit to charge battery from your car. While the competitor, ArkPack 730 includes a DC-DC charger, the battery charger can't be used for the batteries (i think it's built in instead of being totally separate. Also Arkpak inverter is modified sine wave vs pure sine wave in Thunder Weekender, the latter is better suited to sensitive electronics like laptops apparently.
