Read this Review!!!
I bought one of these, the original, Made in USA by UST about 15 years ago & lost it in a nasty divorce. So, this one is a replacement. Do not make the mistake of buying the copies that are made in China. They were listed for less but are all inferior to the one by UST with this exact pouch & "U Dig It, Made in USA" stamped on the concave side of the blade in large letters. This original is a bit heavier but really stout & the latch is very secure. I think I did a Buy it Now for around $14 incl shipping. The only thing you will need to get used to is if you use it to pry fwd, the handle can release; it just takes a minor adjustment to your digging technique to prevent this from happening on a regular basis...not a big deal to me, & that no longer happens, since I'm in practice and aware of this potential. It is great that it folds in half. On ultralight backpacking trips, I leave the pouch at home & put it in a quart zip lock bag with some TP & fire starter...don't get any strange ideas, lol! Just want to keep those few things dry & protect my pack from the sharp blade of the shovel. It is still relatively light but built to last a lifetime...or, at least until the next divorce....but I will hide this one away so I will never need to buy another one!!!
