In my research on how to homeschool my children so that their education is more than bland textbooks and memorizing facts, I kept coming across Charlotte Mason. This book has a solid unashamed christian viewpoint, which is vital to me. I am looking for hints on homeschooling using "living books", narrating,and journaling and this book was very helpful. It also includes good advice on child training. It emphasizes helping children to love learning so as to make it a part of their life instead of "doing school" as a means to an end. The book has lots of ideas on how to teach the arts (music, poetry, literature) in addition to the basics. I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to give their children a rich, living, Godly, education.
