VGA means 1024x768 resolution maximum
It works and does what it says on the tin. It is a VGA to HDMI adaptor - ie. 1024x768 maximum resolution. If you are expecting a higher resolution, you will be disappointed. The USB cable is for powering the adaptor so it needs to be plugged into a USB socket or a suitable power source.

Video only, no audio connection
Basically you get what you pay for. This device does not have an audio input like some of the other models. This wasn't a problem for me as I only wanted to connect the HDMI output of my Raspberry Pi to my VGA monitor. For that reason it met expectations fully and coped with the highest resolution the RPi could put out. Quality is good with a solid feel and not plasticy at all. I have no complaints at all.
