Its a water pump
Apparently I havent written enough I am told to be specific. Here is what I wrote originally "It pumps water. I hope it continues so to do".

They are OK, inexpensive, but I needed to buy longer fitting bolts
These do the job, but were a real fiddle to fit, and I had to buy longer M5 bolts to reach across the handlebars of a Yamaha ST900. The manufacturers stated that they fit OK.. However, they are fitted, they do as stated, and were inexpensive. I guess that you get what you pay for. They have not broken in a few hundred miles, so seem strong enough, so overall I am satisfied.
