My Favorite Muff of all!
I have been playing long enough to I have a Russian Muff that I bought new. I love the Big Muff sound, so I was stoked when I learned that EHX was finally going to reissue some of its classics in a pedalboard-friendly format (input/output where they belong and a standard 9v plug).
I have a 20-year-old Black Russian Big Muff (“BRBM”) and It sounds sublime... when you set the knobs just right. I replaced it on my board with the Green Russian Reissue (“GRR”). The GRR sounds almost as good as the BRBM does in its sweet spot, and the GRR sounds better in every other setting.
The Triangle Big Muff (“TBM”) is even better. It has a little more meat in the bottom and it seems to have a little more grit in the upper midrange. It really delivers that Gilmour sound. My NYC ‘81 pedal (Big Knob Pedals) sounds good, but the EHX reissues sound bigger and better to my ears. The NYC ‘81 has a more nasally, cocked-wah sound than any of the EHXs, if that is what you’re looking for.

This Craftsman socket is good quality and matches the rest of my set. The factories where these US-made tools were made are now closed. I have been collecting these tools while they are still cheap and available because the overseas stuff is rather hit-or-miss regarding quality.

As usual, the AMD parts are top quality. The steel seems sturdy and the stampings are exact duplicates of my rusty old parts.
