Proline Jeep Shell
Proline shell, the additional bumper parts aren't really needed on a crawler. Good unbreakable quality.

Replaced old Steeple Fan
The old one gave up the ghost after 6 years, bought a direct replacement, however, the mounting holes are in a slightly different position and the case is a few mm smaller, which means having to repaint the bathroom ceiling as well now.

Garmin nüvi 610T GPS Receiver
16 of 17 found this helpful Ok, so I 'needed' a GPS. I used to have the laptop based version from Directions. That was superb, drove all around France with that towing a 20ft caravan and it was a no brainer, using laptop processing power I could enter route preferences and it provided a solution. The options available were quite staggering and I had the choice of a huge laptop screen or, I could plug it into a 7" vga touchscreen that I have.
Then I sold the laptop and bought a desktop, which was fine until I needed to visit my daughter the other side of London, and I had never driven through the centre before in my life.
I went through every damned site, read all the reviews, specs, etc etc and was still confused about which was the 'best'. I knew I preferred European mapping so that counted out the low budget options. I knew the advantages of a bigger screen, so that ruled out even more. Then the guy sat next to me in work showed me his Garmin Nuvi. I had a play with it and, as we were in the 'front end design and testing business' it soon became apparent that Garmin have done their homework.
I scoured the net again and found the 610T. Widescreen and European mapping, though prices varied considerably. I used the Google shopping system to find the cheapest UK seller, and compared that with Ebay. Just under £200 was the best I could find at the time, so I ordered one.
The box arrived.
I took everything out, and simply switched it on and this was where the pleasant surprises started.

You also have Back button
And Near button. It will for instance give you the nearest 'whatever' to where you currently are.
This works on a type ahead basis. Just enter the first few letters of the country and the list shrinks as you type. Select the country you want.
Do the same for town, and then postcode. Depending on what you are looking for it displays the results. It is fast too!
It is a fully functioning GPS with a flip up receiver that automatically searches for signals when activated. The display is clear and has 3D/2D option together with zoom. Sliding my finger around the screen scrolled the map.
The address search function was very easy to use.
Yes, it took me from Bristol to Walthamstow, right through the centre of London and right to my daughters door without missing a beat. I would not have had a chance without it.
What else does it do?
Store photo's on it, and select one for a personalised splash screen.
Store MP3's on it and play them. Headphones are included.
Bluetooth, so that you can control the phone from the touchscreen.
It has Audible Book functionality - Downloadable at extra cost.
A calculator.
Translator - Languages downloadable at extra cost.
Travel Guide.
World Clock.
Currency Converter - You need to enter the current rate.
The toolkit options allow you to select shortest/fastest routes, vehicle icons, alert options, screen detail etc etc.
The Garmin also comes with 12 months free speed camera alerts, this includes mobile locations. It certainly keeps your speed down as you soon realise that most of the country is now festooned with either fixed or mobile speed camera's.
The online USB updates are automatic too, Garmin got it right!
