How can you go wrong with Shakespeare?
3 of 3 found this helpful This is every published word Shakespeare wrote, essentially. The genius and forerunner of Modern English, I can't really say anything bad about him. Come on. He's Shakespeare. He's awesome.
Now, you may find it difficult to navigate to certain bits you like. I believe the histories come first, then the comedies, then tragedies. Most of the better lines are at the end of the plays, you see. And following those are all the sonnets, which I personally hate, but the rest of the world loves. Shall I compare them to a midsummer's day?
There is a lot that can be taken by reading these lines, but much much more that can be taken by saying them aloud. Read them dramatically. Speak them loudly. They are not a novel and you will hate this book's purchase if you regard them as so. Memorize a few lines and make yourself seem sophisticated. Do not read this book from cover to cover. I'm warning you here. Shakespeare was a playwright, not a novelist, so perform the book (even if it is to yourself).

I liked it.
1 of 1 found this helpful Kurt Vonnegut's prose in the novel is very stark and simple, which some have said is because he is trying to point out the simple and stupid nature of the book's subject matter, war.
Of course, we can't call him a science fiction writer without him combining space aliens and time travel into the mix.
Out there, I suppose, is a good way to describe the novel.
You will like it, though. It's awfully short and not particularly complex. There are some very dramatic and sad moments, and some parts you will laugh at (and maybe feel guilty afterwards). It was a very enjoyable read.
(and so it was?)
