NOT A GPS UNIT - Forerunner 50 is Discontinued
2 of 2 found this helpful THIS PRODUCT IS NOT GPS ENABLED, NOT A GPS RECIEVER, OR DOES IT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH GPS (Global Positioning Service). This model is discontinued for over a year from Garmin.
This model is great, especially to get just the basic Time and Heartrate! i have had 2 (lost both) and looking to buy a third. This product will withstand a lot.
The ANT+ technology / stick is bluetooth and transfers data from the watch, footpod, cadence, heartstrap to your computer. IF this was a GPS unit it would also send that information and tell you exactly where you were, at what speeds, heartrate, etc. HOWEVER, THIS UNIT IS NOT GPS AT ALL. The Forerunner 405 is the GPS version...unless you drop $500 to break apart your Forerunner 50 and physically buy a 405 and attempt to jam the 405 into the 50 and then duct tape it back together....THE FORERUNNER 50 WILL NEVER BE GPS enabled.

People...don't trust ebay sellers....only trust the manufacturer for the description. eBay sellers only care about moving product regardless of the # of returns. The manufacturer cares about you getting the correct product.

such clean air
Awesome product, very quiet, has a pull out card for operations (that can't be removed, just pulls out slightly from the unit) that I did not know about and was confused, but it works great and i have mine running almost 24/7 in my home office
