    ScanGauge SGIIFFP ScanGauge 2
    11 May, 2016
I've been using one for years
I just upgraded my older ScanGuage, and I'm very happy with it and the company. For my Honda Insight Generation 1 (2000 to 2006), it helps me stay in "lean burn" mode by displaying the throttle position sensor. That allows over 80mpg trips and around 70mpg averages. Geeking out more: a TPS value below 18 for about a second triggers lean burn, then slow acceleration (but keeping the TPS below 32) keeps it in lean burn. The mixture is enriched for 8 seconds every couple minutes to keep the exhaust pipe from building up ash deposits. I've not played with all the cool new features yet, but it is a great manual that clearly explains how to use every feature.

20 Ft 4 Gauge Heavy Duty Power Booster Cable Emergency Car Battery Jumper

Decent cables with bonus storage bag
I was pleased. Very thick cable insulation, fine wire copper cables, well attached to clamps. Mine came with a bonus storage bag, partially made with clear vinyl so the contents are unmistakable. Jumper cables always tangle into a mess, snagging everything you put in your trunk. Not these, with the storage bag! Like the listing said, the jaws on the clamps are copper plated, not solid copper. The jaws seem durable, and the cables are well crimped onto the clamps. The clamps are very thinly insulated all over, and do not have additional plastic or rubber insulation where your hand grabs them. Historically, I have found those extra plastic or rubber clamp-handle insulators slide off too easy or are otherwise a pain. That these whole clamps are insulated, seems like a great idea. That the insulation is thin, seems like reasonable cost-cutting. Adding taped insulation or vinyl dipping insulation would make the clamps even better, more resistant to incidental shorting when bumping parts of the vehicle with the clamps. The handle springs are pressing on the insulated cable, further securing the cable onto the clamps. The springs dig into the cable continuously, but even if they eventually wore through the cable insulation, the clamps would still be "hot", and that additional contact point would not change the inherent danger of using jumper cables. Fine wire cables are usually more bendy than these; the thick (likely vinyl) insulation keeps them from making sharp bends, which helps resist kinks. Great value.
