Classic Sci-fi that breaks the mold

It is classic sci-fi in Hi-def and 3D! Not as technically advanced as today's sci-fi, but it it has a great story line, and is from an era when actors could act. Also, it gives great insight into the mind set of the times, when the concept of space travel was in its infancy. While other sci-fi movies were bombarding us with the THREAT of extra-terrestrial life, this movie explores the possibility of alien visitors that wish us no harm, and the confusion that ensues.
