One Day at a Time in Al-Anon by Inc. Staff Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters

A rope thrown to a drowning woman
I recently joined Alanon and noticed one lady had this little book..."One Day at a Time". She told me she had started Alanon last year and found this book in the local Library. She said it had helped her soo much. Well, I wanted that help, too. So I went on Ebay and found this book. It arrived pretty quickly and I immediately began reading it. It is a Daily devotional but I (like my new friend) started at the beginning and read it all the way through in 2 days. It is just that good... seriously. Enlightening. Understanding. Definitely gives Hope. One way or the other, this book will benefit anyone affected by alcoholism. I was going to highlight key points while reading it, but there were so many gems of wisdom I would have highlighted the entire book. I am now reading one page at a time...daily...and slowly, letting it sink in. Sometimes I re-read parts and even softly read out loud to my self. I also purchased "Courage to Change" and read that cover to cover. It, too, is very good....but "One Day at a Time" is hands down the best. I will keep it forever and use it daily. It speaks right to my soul, as a wife of an alcoholic who loves her husband of almost 50 years but can barely stand living with him a good percentage of the time. It is like an extension of an Alanon meeting. A rope thrown to a drowning woman.... I am going to purchase a few more copies so our group members can have their own book. The lady that had checked it out of the library had already renewed it twice and just hated to have to return it. I'm going to get her a book of her own. God bless anyone reading this. You must be on the same road we are on. Find an Alanon group....I promise you will be glad you did. Peace.

Another great read from the Robertson family... We all love Uncle Si !!!
I bought this book for my middle school grandson, as he really enjoys Duck Dynasty. Heck, he's got ME stuck on it now. haha Anyway he had already read the first 2 books...one by Willie and the other by Phil...throughily enjoyed both AND was awarded AR points for each (at school). So this was a no-brainer. Anyway, he is almost finished with this book and then we are going to donate the 3 books to his school Library so they will be available to all the kids. Good read, lots of family dynamics and important life lessons. Watching the TV show and reading the books makes you feel like you know this family personally. We are not hunters..we feed ducks, not kill them. But the Robertson's don't hunt for "sport", they eat what they kill. We really don't know anyone with a lifestyle like that, so this opens our eyes to other lifestyles. The Robertson family has a deep seated, core Christian belief system and they honor Jesus. At the same time, they are living, loving, and laughing just as we all are, in this crazy mixed-up world.
