Life Is Strange Limited Edition Xbox One Game Brand New
12 Jul, 2016
Immersive, intuitive and wholly satisfying - if you don't mind your soul being crushed.
This game is essentially the epitome of artsy, hipster humour - and it isn't afraid to poke fun at that aspect of itself. What starts off as a light-hearted story about a young photography student reconnecting with her childhood best friend soon becomes a thrilling, rather dark coming of age story where very choice you make affects the surroundings around you. Dealing with heavy topics such as suicide, euthanasia and sacrifice, this game forces you to acknowledge the kind of person you are and thrusts you into difficult scenarios. Despite the heaviness of certain episodes, the game is humorous and jovial, filled with close-knit friendships, family and, as seems to be necessary for any game concerning teenagers, love. The beauty of the cause-effect style of gameplay is that the person playing truly becomes the character. You can ostracise and bully your way through the game if that is your wish, or you can hug every tree you come across, rescue every bird and go around kissing all your friends. Now, as stated in the title, this game is absolutely incredible. A must-have for any person who has a day or so to spare - and you will need a day, because once you start, I'm afraid you won't stop until all five episodes are completed. However, as light as it appears to begin with, this game is not for the sensitive people. If you tend to cry easily or get triggered by situations involving suicide, kidnapping, drug use, disabilities caused by trauma, implications of rape and/or death, please proceed with caution. Do not put yourself at risk for the sake of a game, regardless of how highly recommended it comes. Other than that, there really isn't much I can say. The game rendered me speechless and brought me to tears. It's excellently written, it's good value for money and it stays with you long after it's over. If that isn't enough for you, then I honestly don't know what else to tell you. Happy spending, and have a nice day.
