A wonderful, but slightly flawed adventure game
Make no mistake, this is indeed a point and click adventure game made by Westwood studios, know for such classics as Command and conquer and Dune 2. Before Dune 2 and C&C, Westwood studios created a variety of styles of games. The Fables and Fiends series, also known as The Legend of Kyrandia series is their point and click adventure game series. Similar in many aspects to Sierra adventure games of the time except in one way. Kyrandia does not feature multiple actions with the mouse pointer. Clicking on items and people interacts with them or picks them up and I believe right clicking gives a description. No look, walk, talk, interact options to select. The game engine does that. The game is not too small or too large and will take a seasoned adventure gamer probably 4-5 hours to complete. The main issue most take umbrage to is the terrible inventory system. With the inventory screen being part of the main window you have to click up and down arrows to have the inventory screen scroll through. At times this is bad because there are parts that are time sensitive and you may fail because you weren't on the right spot of your inventory. Second, when certain items are used on the wrong puzzles they are removed. You aren't given a clear indication of whether the item helped or not, and some items cannot be recollected, so you can accidentally dead end yourself. Overall though, the plot is decent, with colorful and beautiful graphics and well animated character sprites. Just watch Malcolm the jester walk and you will see what I mean. The dialog can be witty and is free of grammatical errors as far as I have seen. If you purchase the CD-ROM version the voice acting is passable, but it gets better in the sequels. And finally the music. The soundtrack is nice enough in ad-lib, but if you have a Roland MT-32 the music will really shine, adding a much better sounding orchestral feel to the music as well as enhancing many of the sound effects with custom sound patches. This game, like many of Sierra adventure games shows why some game composers felt that the GS and GM sound standards were a step back in overall ability to compose exactly what they wanted. In the end, you have a well put together point and click adventure with some nitpicking flaws and of course some random bugs the is entertaining to play. If you like fantasy style point and click adventure games, then give this one a purchase. If you can't buy an original copy, Good Old Games has the trilogy for sale now as well.

Worth the money, and will make your laptop a complete bundle
This cable is so much better than what you get with a modern connection cable. The outside cladding is strong, but flexible and the cable affords movement. The connectors are strong and lock tightly to maintain your connection between the external device and the computer. In this case, a floppy drive.

Three fantastic RPGs in one bundle!
Might and Magic 3, 4 and 5 are fantastic, deep RPGs that have fun, if trope filled plots with lots of dungeons to explore and monsters to kill. These games do throw a bit if sci-fi into the game so if you are put off by destroying androids with spells and swords, then this series is not for you. These three games have decent graphics for their time and good music and sound effects. Movement is aware grid based and combat is a mix of ranged and martial. When moving, your party moves one square and then an enemy if one is near will move on corresponding square closer to your party. You start each game with a pre-generated party but you can easily go to the inn, sign in and make your own character. You can have a party of six characters that cover the gamut of knight to sorcerer with a fair few in between including such staples as barbarians and rogues. There are two straight casting classes, the cleric and sorceror or wizard, and then you have hybrids who can cast a bit of magic while also being powerful in melee such as Rangers, Paladins, and Druids. Every class has positives and negatives which will have to be weighed at character creation since there are more classes than available positions in your party. Once you have a party and are ready to adventure you will explore the starting town, and invariably die. Be sure to save as these games do start a bit difficult. In Might and Magic 3, leave the starting town and fight outside monsters for a level or two before taking in the Moose rats in town. They are a force to be reckoned with. Another unique aspect of 4 and 5 is that their plots and their games are intertwined. What that means is that there are points in each world where you can traverse to the other, with 4 being called Clouds of Xeen and 5 being The Darkside of Xeen. This is no gimmick because items and keys you will need for some dungeons and towers will be hidden in the other world and you will have to search diligently for them. Overall I would rate this trilogy as an excellent set of games. And even though Might and Magic 3 isn't attached in any particular way to 4 and 5 you will enjoy the games if RPGs are games you enjoy to play.
