Manassas, Stephen Stills
This is an enormous body of work split into four pieces, each with a somewhat pretentious name. The trouble with all double albums is that you rarely have time to listen to the whole thing. They are unwieldy by nature.
Having said that there are some gems on Manassas. Listen to Colorado, Johnnys garden, and It doesn't matter and you will remember that this is the Steven Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Lovely melodies and good musicianship are not enough, however, to make up for the many less good tracks. Stills is no lyricist either as tracks like Love Gangster illustrate.
This large album filled a small gap in my collection....
