Charnwood 815P... Is it worth the money?

This is an excellent quality lathe for the money with a solid cast iron bed and all levers easy to reach.
The on off button is in a good position and the variable speed control works well, I have used mine using both HSS and Carbide tipped tools and it works fine, although the motor is a little small it still manages to work.
Although not shown in the manual there are some screw holds in the base of the bed and with a bit of measurement you can line these up with the holes and screw it down which is what I have done, this gives the lathe a lot more stability and makes you feel like you are not going to push it over when roughing.
Its heavy and the model I purchased came with the small 2 inch chuck which is very nice although I will be coming back to get the other chucks as well for general work rather than using centres I would prefer to use tenons.
what I dont know is if the bed is extendable, there are options for the other lathes and I need to see whether you could extend it.
all in all a perfect little wood lathe which is strong, good quality, built out of the box and ready to go. Im very pleased with mine and primarily be using it to do pen work and lace bobbin work .
If you budget allows get the next model up that gives you a bigger distance between centres, I have not regretted my purchase and am very happy.
You can easily put on a revolutions counter using a small kit off ebay. Uses a Hall sensor and is very accurate.

Dash cam camera clone
There are many clones of this camera and this is a mid priced one Iabout 40 gbp gnore the photos they do not represent the true ability of this dash cam yes you can reverse with it and there are lines on the screen yes you can record save go back and look but even on highest quality more than a 4 inch square on a computer screen it's has tons of artefactos for me a waste of money and I wished I bought road hawk update, used it for a few days, it is ok in the car, the sd card quality is to be desired but as a monitor for reverse and front parking it is fine, the lights on the carmer are not infra red but ultra bright white leds and give a good picture in car parks and the streets so for that point of view its fine, ( i might add some additional lights) for recording footage it is certainly no where near HD quality and I struggle to read number plates in 640x480 which is not what the add says, I bought it as a reversing camera not a dashcam that was a bonus so for reversing its good, if you want a dashcam then you should by a road hawk nothing less stands up to their quality of product In my humble opinion. The wiring kit that comes with it is suitable for my car which is a Mitsubishi L200 very long but its ends in a cigarette lighter adapter rather that a permanent system. Its does go in and worked first time.

Does what is says
Nice unit heavy so big transformer seems to push out correct voltages haven't had time to check amps only thing missing is a handle which would of been useful probably I will take cover off and see how much room I have and make one of my own came with a small set of leads which shows forethought as others don't do far very happy.
