Installed well but lid seems a bit weak

I installed the product relatively easily. The instructions are clear enough. The instructions say that the toilet lid is not designed to take weight and should not be stood on. The lid is not soft close as described and the child seat soft close mechanism is not strong enough to prevent the lid from banging shut. The first evening of it being installed the lid was closed and I was drying myself off after a bath. I put my foot on the lid, leant into it and the lid broke loudly. So now I have a broken toilet lid. As someone else noted, D-shaped family toilet seats are hard to find but I have found one other (more expensive) and am expecting that to arrive today. It has the more typical design for family toilet seats whereby the child seat is smaller and sits within the adult seat rather than completely covering it. I can't say in any way that the product was not as advertised.
