Bill Bryson at his usual high standard

excellent observations
Terry Pratchett writes with no drama and a lot of common sense, Can't have been easy as he saw his impending death but it is a book which warms the heart and makes sense of a difficult subject

a great book in Doreeen Tovey's sagas about the Siamese cats who have owned her
Another book by Doreen Tovey, written with delightful humour, about life with a series of Siamese cats, her husband and a donkey – not to forget her village neighbours, among whom are some real characters. I would heartily recommend ANY book by Mrs Tovey. I read them as bedtime stories to my step-grandsons, from the age of 6 years, and they loved them and asked for “More stories about the cats, please!”.
