GONG LI !! LOTS OF HER ! HURAAY!!!
BUY this Movie, but first off, my rating of good instead of excellent because, some of the chinese editing, (which may seem weird too us here in the western world) this editing stays on certain shots longer than we would, because they are giving you time to reflect. This method seems sluggish, and may put some of you off. Having said that, This movie is an art film and is wonderful, it's pure asian, it also has Gong Li a feast for the eyes, along with four women under different roofs in the same compound. Set in the 1920's these woman manipulate and plot for the masters affection, in a way that is very interesting. This is the heart of the movie, who will the master sleep with? judging by how the day goes, and who has out plotted who, the placement and lighting of the red lantern at sundown determines who the master picked for that night. Remember fall into the reflective directing, and you will learn a different way to watch a movie, also a key to Asian thinking.

MARSHALL MG100HDFX solid state that sounds like a tube amp.
Amp is solid state, with a tube amp sound, and a varity of settings. Amp has a weak I.C. in the wiring, best to have it replaced before you go on the road. Solid state amps just hold up better than tube amps during rough handling. Tube amps have a great sound, so if you can get a solid state amp to sound like a tube, ( like this one )you have the best of both worlds.

'COLD BLOOD TODAY'
The CD is great, just buy it. I liked the song selection, thats a personal thing, but I was glad they included the early real classics they were doing back in the day, with some great new solos. Lydia Pense is still the Queen of them all to me. When I first saw this band, they were doing a practice at the Straight theatre in San Francisco. Carlos Santana was unknown at the time, and he and I use to jam together (everyone use to jam with carlos, he would set up at the Straight, and play all day, and into the nite, different musicians would play, because Carlo's would litterally wear them out. One night we were talking while this band was setting up on stage Carlos had just signed with Columbia and was the happiest I had ever seen him, out of the corner of my eye I noticed, this band setting up had a lot of people, hammond , horns, etc. The lights went down , and the band started this long intro to 'I just wanna make love to you' AND THIS,REALLY PRETTY PETITE BLONDE GIRL, walks up to the microphone, SPEECHLESS !!doesn't do justice, if you have heard the remastered CD of the first album, imagine that quality times 10. No one could move as the songs played on, eventually Carlos, looked over at me and said "I'm quitting music" now everyone else there that nite were musicians and music fans and they were all as blown away as Carlos and I. This tiny singer is so under rated, and it was all because people thought she was copying 'Janis'. I was there, and knew Janis. Lydia Pense was and is a class act all on her own, like I have never scene in music, SHE DESERVES to be in the Hall of Fame. She is still performing as this CD so proves, and excellent, as always.
