An important contribution with answers proposed to long standing questions.
An in depth study of Churchill’s life distinct by its critical elements and corroboration by archival recently released documents, at a time when the subject has been lionised as “the greatest Englishman”. Trail kept on how traits apparent by earlier in life events , influenced decisions that affect the UK and Europe to this day. The book has become a source for historians from the right and left contradicting the traditional historiography and recent work produced by politicians admiring and possibly guided by Churchill’s modus vivendi.

A caleidoscope of Irish themes by one of the greats.
An author I have followed for a few decades. Skilled use of lunguage, superb sketching of mindsets-in-time a deep understanding of the themes touched without undue sentimentality. One of the Irish greats of recent times who, I feel, receives less than the recognition she deserves because she is independent and less "on message" than the current public is capable to digest.
The particular copy was protectively packaged and promptly delivered. The fact this was a signed first edition is an additional joy.

Sowing the wind…
A detailed hugely insightful and enlightening discussion of the machinations of Angloamerican politics and specifically considerations of resources domination in the empire dissolution and post colonial climate. A must for understanding present geopolitics and specifically how global economic interests and malhandling of ethnic aspirations has fuelled the present toxic state of Middle Eastern politics and encouraged the belligerence of the last thirty years in this part of the world. Worth reading also Cristopher de Bellaigue’s Patriot of Persia and some of the more considered Suez “intervention” literature for a more integrated picture
