Looks brand new and replaces a similar one which would have cost almost as much to replace a small gear wheel.

Only British Gas can pair the unit with smart meter.
You can not connect these units to your smart meter. Only a British Gas engineer can reset the unit and pair with a code that they hold. British Gas will only attend if they are the current supplier. This pairing issue is true for various makes of these monitors. No factory reset button and nothing on the web.
