Good performance from a small, attractive enclosure
I needed to cover the rolloff at about 60-70 hz from my bookshelf speakers in a tasteful way, musical and accurate way. This unit suits my needs perfectly by providing some oomph from around 35 hz to 80 (where I have it set to roll off). The bass it delivers is tight and punchy, and natural sounding. I use it strictly for music in a 2.1 system. I don't think this is the sub for those looking for joint-loosening LFEs down to 20 hz in a home theater system. But to complement bookshelf speakers in a 2.1 system in an unobtrusive, musical way, this unit is great.

Great Sound, No Hum, and 39 dB gain
The soundstage on my receiver only generated a 36 dB gain, which wasn't sufficient for the 2.5 mV cartridge I was using at the time. The Solo not only plays louder, but significantly clearer too. And it's a handsome little unit too. I picked mine up for a song as a refurbished unit directly from Cambridge Audio.
