Love.
I do have a nice garden. It attracts several of the smaller birds.
I have since relocated my swivel head Owl into the Conservatory. It actually terrifies the poor little guys.
So - if scaring Birds is a focus for maybe protecting your garden, preserving your allotment, then this Owl is a must. Certainly fooled our lot of Birds.
Squirrels, Slugs will soon gorge your crops. So common sense. Use some netting.
Personally, I know someone who is a Sheffield Wenesday Fan Football Fan. They come from the district of Sheffield called Owlerton. Hence a reason to buy.
Now my reason to buy. I have a vague knowledge of:-
1/ - Classical Civilisation. Athena - among others. The Patron Goddess of Athens & Wisdom. Owls are her constant companions . They portray Wisdom..
Now, I hope I have poked your curiosity. I have more reasons. Of which the next one will appeal to many People:-
2/ LOVE. I had already bought one of these magnificent 'Swivel head decoy Owls.'.
Following the Greek Classics.
I already had a Male Owl - exactly the same swivel head breed. I named him HERCULES. He lives in the Conservatory on his own most of the time. This can be terribly lonely for him, especially as he is not allowed to terrorise small birds, Shrews & Mice. Loved to chomp on a Shrew.
However his life has been transformed. I saw our ' For Sale' Owl on ebay. Lovely yellow chest feathers. A bit of match making. PENNY - is now in our Conservatory. Early days Hercules doesn't like his personal space being invaded. There beaks are turned away from each other.
Penelope is her full name. She is named after the wife of Odysseus in classical mythology. I named her Penny for short.
Latest news 'LOVE.'
Yes they are now an item. The Sparks are certainly flying.
3/ Their PROFESSIONAL life before retirement in our Conservatory.
Well in the Film & TV industry. They have had an important mentor in BABU - The Golden Owl in The film Clash of the Titans. He was immense, a Superstar. This is the 1981 Film starring among others Laurence Olivier, Maggie Smith & Harry Hamlin.
He was invited to the OSCARS, GOLDEN GLOBES. Burgess Meredith who portrayed in my opinion the best ever ' PENGUIN' Character in the 1960s series of Batman and towards the end of his life, the iconic Mickey, the boxing trainer of ROCKEY BALBOA. He took a shine to Babu and directed him to a new career.
BABU had been enjoying fame. He was living in an upmarket apartment in New York. He was bored. No one wanted a Golden Owl in their films.
He in turn became a mentor/ choreographer for young Owls trying to make their way in the Industry. He made a living. However Babu really came back into the limelight with the release of 'Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone. Hedwig - Harry Potters own OWL was the main star in the Owl circle.
However, Harry Potter consisted of 8 Blockbuster films over 10 years.
HERCULES was employed as a very good 'stunt double' for Hedwig over the entire Franchise.
Penny was also involved in a couple of the Films. I'm not a total officiando of Harry Potter, but I believe Penny was really brilliant and versatile.
HERCULES, Penny and Hedwig are all Barn Owls.
What a performance and praise for the Artistic department.
Penny played the stunt double for Draco Malfoys ' Eagle Owl' Turned out to be a truly menacing performance. She can be seen quite clearly on Dracos' shoulder. She wasn't on screen too much, but deeply involved in Espionage bringing back valuable information garnered from Slytherin back to Griffindor.
Just can't seem to remember the character name of the Eagle Owl. Shall, for the moment call him Hades.
In fact, we now return to real life. PENNY & HERCULES are happily in love in the Conservatory, a lovely view of the woods. ' Mealworms, Worms, and various types of HUMMUS. A surprise - now vegetarians.
Ok - that's my story about these lovely Owls who live in my Conservatory. Yes, I do talk to them. Lockdown maybe. Imagination to distract you.
They are indeed wonderful. If I could add photos I would. Maybe somebody could help me.
