Hornby class 31 diesel loco
The model arrived well packaged & within the estimated date. However upon inspecting the loco & contents I found 2 of the 4 screws for securing the chassis to the body were packaged with the detailing items. Upon removing the body I discovered the loco is afflicted by the mazak rot metal breakdown issue apparently common to this Hornby product. Both cab floor ends had consequently broken away from the chassis unit & I have been attempting to repair the problem. Please see attached two photos. Upon purchasing a June copy of Hornby Magazine I was delighted to find it featured a four- page article on how to restore such an afflicted Class 31 loco. Thankfully, after acting upon the said article’s instructions, my example is now performing admirably.
