Spear & Jackson Traditional Drop Forged Bypass and Anvil Secateurs Twin Gift Set
11 Dec, 2023
OK for occasional users or a second pair left on the allotment.
These are a mixed bag. The bypass secateurs are reasonably good quality & will suit most peoples needs around the garden. Being forged steel, they are likely to be strong & last, if well maintained, although the grips are not suited to long periods of us.
The anvil cutters are woeful; a triumph of poor design over quality engineering. The one plastic jaw is supposed to provide an anvil that the blade can cut against without blunting. A nice idea, but it is a flimsy affair, held on by one screw, so it moves laterally & renders the last third of the jaws unusable for cutting anything at all. I have tried these on hard hawthorn & soft annuals & rarely did they cut all the way through & only cut cleanly on small wood placed right into the bottom of the 'V' of the jaws.
These also come branded as Kew Gardens, which must be embarrassing for them!
OK for a gift set or for occasional gardeners - they are not bad value at £15 - but if you are a regular gardener or want the perfect cut for training trees or shrubs, spend a bit more & buy a Japanese pair that will last a lifetime.
Andoer Cleaning Cloth Screen Glass Lens Cleaner for Canon Nikon DSLR Camera L5Z3

Just another cloth
Was described as being made from "suede", but is just synthetic fibres. Lots of cheaper alternatives out there, if that's what you want - I don't see any reason to buy this particular cloth.
Heavy Duty Shelving S-RAX Racking 4Tier 150cm Wide Metal Garage Storage Units

OK, but.....
OK. "Heavy Duty" is probably stretching it a bit, I wouldn't like to put that to the test.
Very poorly packaged, so the shelves had damaged corners and the metalwork had pushed through the end of the box, resulting in some chipping of the paintwork, which does seem very flaky for what is supposed to be powder coating.
Overall, you could probably find better quality & definitely find better value. They are too expensive for what they are.
